DISTANCE CALCULATOR COORDINATES |
Geodetic permits entering a pair of geographic coordinates, and will compute the geodetic distance and azimuth direction between the two points. Depending upon how the applet is set up, it may display a default terminus coordinate. Coordinates are entered in angular units of degrees, minutes and seconds, with no separators. Minutes and whole seconds must be padded with a single leading zero if they are only one digit long. Example: 45°7'5.333'' would be entered as 450705.333 North latitudes and West longitudes are entered as positive numbers, but it is not necessary to use a + sign. South latitudes and East longitudes are entered as negative numbers. Example: -1253607.33678 represents 125°36'07.33678 East Longitude. - Map Options Not everybody knows their precise position, without having to resort to a map or actual measurements. So to facilitate casual use, two maps are provided from which the viewer can pick his-her approximate location. If you are located in the conterminous United States select the U.S.A. button. If you are not in the U.S., select the World button. |
